COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 24, 2015) – Mills James has been selected by the Granville Inn to design and install new AV systems throughout the facility. The upgrade is part of a total renovation of the historic facility during which demolition crews virtually gutted the entire building while carefully covering or removing the building’s signature architectural details, such as the hardwood paneling in the entryway, main hallways and dining rooms so that they can all be restored.
Mills James designed and installed sound systems for the renovated Great Hall, Carriage House Banquet Hall and Board Room. An audio system was also installed which provides zoned control of background music in the Tavern at the Inn, the Oak Room fine dining restaurant, Lobby, Porte-cochere and other common areas. The project included the installation high definition video displays in the Tavern and Boardroom.
This improvement is the latest project by Mills James AV Solutions, the audio visual systems sales and installation division of Mills James.
Denison University, that bought the Granville Inn last year, put together a plan to restore the building’s historic character while adding modern facilities including a new restaurant kitchen, a catering kitchen, 1,200 square feet of additional banquet space in the former garages, laundry facilities, nine additional hotel rooms, an elevator, enhanced landscaping, improved accessibility, and additional parking. The former pub space is now the formal dining room, and the larger space that formerly hosted the main dining room has become the tavern. The new event space was created in the attached former carriage house, which dates to the 1800s and opens onto what will become a courtyard.
The Jacobethan Revival stone and timber structure was built in 1927 by coal and railroad magnate John Sutphin Jones and designed by prominent Columbus architect Frank L. Packard.
