Mills James’ Visual Effect Group has an immediate Pre-Professional opening in our Columbus facility for a full-time, recent graduate. We are Looking for someone with a background in general 3D principles and familiar with Unreal Engine as well as an understanding of Motion Graphics.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in a post-production facility with a passion for visual effects, especially in Unreal Engine. The candidate will display extraordinary client skills and be able to exhibit enthusiasm, inspire creativity and collaboration within the group. A high level of organizational skills is required for this position.
The Mills James Pre-Professional Program provides recent college graduates an opportunity to obtain on-the-job work experience in preparation for a career in the production industry. During the six-month session, often called the “audition” period, you will be expected to work 40 hours per week. Your skill sets need not cover the full range required for full-time associates. Displaying initiative and a willingness to learn will help you get the most out of your time in the program and add to your value in the marketplace.
At the sole discretion of Mills James, Pre-Pro associates who demonstrate outstanding skills and qualities may be offered the opportunity to continue in the program for a second six-month session. However, an individual’s participation in the program will not extend beyond one year.
A portfolio showcasing your best work is required to be considered a candidate for this position.

- Research and analyze best design techniques and solutions to create motion graphics
- Collaborate and learn from video editors, producers, and other designers to resolve technical or design issues
- Display extraordinary client skills, and be able to exhibit enthusiasm, inspire creativity and collaboration within the group
- Respond to internal and external requests in a professional and timely manner
REQUIREMENTS
Listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or two years’ related creative experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three years of’ creative experience in the post-production industry
- Proactive, energetic, and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize work and shift priorities as needed
- Solid client service and relationship-building skills
- Working knowledge in After Effects in combination with Cinema 4D
