How long have you been at Mills James?

I cannot believe it; I’ve been here for 28 years! I’ve seen so much growth, and to see the progress we’ve made from where were many years ago, is truly amazing.

What has kept you here for so long?

I’ve stayed because no two days are ever the same, and I like that. I have such a variety of clients, and my projects are very diverse. Priorities change and so my schedule is pretty fluid. Between the ever-changing technology and the breadth of talent that surrounds me, there is honestly never a dull moment. Also, I get energized being surrounded by not only my very experienced co-workers, but also from being around our newer, younger employees.

Where were you before Mills James?

I started my career as a broadcast technician for a public television station in Dayton, Ohio. I moved to Columbus to work for the ABC affiliate as a broadcast engineer where I was the Technical Director of the news. After that, I went freelance for a while as onscreen talent and then decided to get into production. That led me to Mills James, and I’ve never looked back.

What is the most fulfilling part/your favorite part of working with clients?

When I can access a client’s needs and then match them up with the perfect team, it’s so gratifying to have been part of the solution. I love getting to know my clients on a personal level, and to learn what we have in common. It creates a shortcut in the problem-solving journey. They know they can call me, and I will lead them in the right direction.

We are able to offer many solutions for our clients. How do you determine the best plan of action?

Honestly, listening is first and foremost. I’ve seen people start offering out solutions before getting to the root of the need. Listening is key!

What do you like to do outside of work?

My favorite thing is to spend time with friends and family. We don’t have to do anything special. Just hanging out with the people I love makes me very happy.

Is there a particular project or client that stands out for you?

Seriously? That’s like asking me to pick my favorite child! They are all special and unique in their own way.
