Creating audience connections through designed emotional experiences can be much more powerful than traditional meeting methods. An ordinary meeting addresses the nuts and bolts of information, but an experiential event brings information to life through storytelling and emotion. Experiential events can challenge attendees at several levels – sights, sounds, smells and emotions.

The first step in creating experiences is to transform the meeting space so the event’s theme “owns” the room. Most meeting rooms and ballrooms are soul-less spaces that drain energy from an event. Using projection, lighting, soft goods and constructed set pieces, we can transform lifeless rooms into “think spaces” that use every surface to communicate to attendees. We can reinforce the theme, ask questions, capture imaginations and challenge guests to think in new ways. The right environment can serve as a catalyst to help new thinking emerge.

Mills James has all the latest technology to tell clients’ stories through immersive projection, projection mapping, high-definition motion graphics and widescreen presentations that create a large-scale visual canvas. But Mills James doesn’t start by saying, “We want to use projection mapping, so how do we squeeze that into this show?” Instead, we let the client story drive the technology we use. That’s a different strategy from most people in our industry. Yes, we have a large warehouse full of equipment to support meetings and events of all sizes, but where Mills James excels is in creating, developing and delivering innovative experiences and creative solutions that help companies communicate their vision, products and services to their employees and their customers.




AVON RepFest 2016 . . .

When this iconic brand needed to re-engage and motivate 5,000+ attendees at its annual convention, Avon chose Mills James as their production and creative partner. With just 60 days to concept, create, and produce an event of this magnitude, Mills James rose to the task. So for the MGM Grand Hotel and Conference Center in Las Vegas, RepFest 2016 would be Avon’s largest event in 13 years and represent a tremendous milestone for the company. Mills James created and produced all General Sessions, video and graphic assets, large-scale leadership meetings, headliner and onstage entertainment, 43 training seminars and a 40,000 square foot product exposition space as well as branding and recognition elements throughout the massive MGM property.

RepFest 2016 represented not only a re-engagement of attendees, but also a re-launch of the Avon brand, giving even more importance to the event. Feedback from both New Avon and attendees was overwhelmingly positive. We hit the mark for the client, produced a creative and impactful show … all in 60 days.


President's Cup Opening Ceremony . . .

First held in 1994, The Presidents Cup features 24 of the world’s greatest golfers in match-play competition. This year’s tournament was held October 1-6 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

For the first time in the event’s history, The Presidents Cup featured an off-site, open-to-the-public Opening Ceremony. The celebration was held at the Columbus Commons and included an international food and entertainment festival, a performance featuring the Ohio State Marching Band, a 300 person choir, and a concert by Rascal Flatts, all capped off by fireworks. The event featured a quarter-million lumens of projection, 440,000 watts of audio, custom-built circular stairs, 10,000 local attendees and over 600 million viewers watching worldwide.


Teradata Partner's Conference 2016 . . .

Our partnership with Teradata includes six events across the country in the past three years, including our third production of the Teradata Partners User Conference and Expo in Atlanta this fall. The Teradata User Conference is the premiere global data conference for data-driven professionals to get in step with the world’s most advanced data and analytic practitioners and decision-makers. As such, it is also Teradata’s largest and most important event of the year.

Our challenges were multiple, including embodying Teradata’s global leadership position with a comprehensive event delivered in an extraordinary experience for 3,500 onsite and 2,500 virtual attendees. We transformed a cavernous exhibit hall into an intimate, engaging space where Teradata shared the customer experience as well as knowledge from top global brands with amazing motion graphics, flawless execution and captivating storytelling. We showcased the event brand story with a custom-designed 22’ x 215’ curved pre-printed material background – further supported with a giant 15’ x 50’ tailored curved screen and flanked by two additional 15’ x 26’ screens. The screens, backdrop and motion graphics physically surrounded and emotionally engaged the audience – meeting the challenges of the event and delighting the client.
